Working to Change Lives

Every month Herbalife distributors, employees and friends take the opportunity to help children by getting involved with HFF. Whether the support comes from financial donations, volunteering or spreading the good work done at Casa Herbalife programs to friends and family—people around the world are making a difference.

 Around the World

North America distributors visited the Winston-Salem YWCA to help staff in the garden of the facility. The children benefit from the program’s many volunteer initiatives to beautify their campus.

The Philippines welcomed Tuloy Sa Don Bosco Foundation to Casa Herbalife in June. The program gives care and shelter to 280 boys and girls ages 6-18. In addition to providing healthy meals to children, Tuloy San Don Bosco aims to reintegrate children affected by extreme poverty and abuse back into society.

Sixteen Herbalife distributors and employees visited Action for Children in the United Kingdom to play a few games of basketball with the children. Special guest Paul Guede, who plays for Great Britain’s men’s basketball team, joined in the festivities and shared inspirational stories.

Herbalife distributors, Lucia Castro and Rafael Juarez, organized a 5k race in Puerto Vallarta to raise money for Casa Herbalife programs in Mexico. Over 300 distributors came out to show support for HFF while staying healthy and active.

Working to Change Lives

Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF) supporters do so much more than make financial donations. For years, members and employees have visited and volunteered at Casa Herbalife programs to spend time with the children. While some Casa Herbalife children come from abusive and neglectful backgrounds, the positive connections and interactions with HFF volunteers brings hope and acceptance. See some of the ways HFF and volunteers have gotten involved this past month.

 Around the World

In addition to having a healthy diet, HFF encourages the overall wellness of children supported by our Casa Herbalife programs. Fu-Yuang Primary School in Taiwan celebrated Sports Day by having the children play games and sports. Herbalife members and employees spent time with the children during the celebration and cheered on the young athletes as they participated in the numerous activities.

Herbalife Brazil employees and members got a jump start on winter by campaigning to collect warm clothes, blankets, and personal hygiene items for the children supported by their Casa Herbalife programs. The drive will continue until the end of June and then Herbalife volunteers will deliver the items to the children.

North America Casa, Koinonia Homes for Teens is an organization devoted to giving abused or neglected teens access to education, medical care, and individualized therapy in addition to healthy daily nutrition. In May, volunteers and friends joined the teens for the program’s annual A Day in the Park event where they had a healthy lunch, games and activities.

President's Team member, Dora Cruz, and her downline visited Casa Hogar Amigo Daniel in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico. The members brought clothes for the children and helped the staff to feed and play with the babies.

HFF supporters donated over $64,300 for disaster relief efforts following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that devastated Ecuador in April. The funds raised helped provide displaced children and families with food, clean water, tools, blankets and personal hygiene kits.

HFF Gives Back

Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF) believes that the key to a successful life is a strong beginning with a healthy, balanced diet. Casa Herbalife programs help children get off to a great start by providing healthy meals and classes that teach budget-conscious families how to maintain a healthy diet.

 Around the World

Mexico launched a new Casa Herbalife program called Youth Education Support Mexico (YES Mexico) in Campeche. YES Mexico was founded in 2005 with a mission to keep children off the streets and give them a healthy, safe place to learn and grow. The program currently serves the needs of 200 boys and girls.

Russia’s Casa Herbalife program has been recognized by ‘Best Social Projects in Russia’ for the third time. The annual ‘Best Projects in Russia’ Award is conducted in collaboration with the Russian Federation government. It was created to recognize some of the country’s most socially responsible initiatives by government, society and businesses. The Casa Herbalife program was also recognized in 2012, 2013 and 2014 for its commitment to improving the lives of Russian children.

Independent Herbalife Members visited Rumah Autis, a Casa Herbalife program that provides a safe home with engaging activities to 21 children suffering from autism. During the visit, the children were educated on hygiene and the importance of washing fruit before eating it. Fresh fruit was donated to the program by caring Members.

In North America, the North Carolina Casa Herbalife program held a major fundraiser, the 35th Annual Women of Vision Luncheon, where women in the community were honored. The Best Choice Center, an afterschool and summer camp academic enrichment program for low-income children, was among programs featured at the luncheon. Herbalife Members have supported the Best Choice Program through volunteerism, and donations of money, school supplies and Christmas presents.

Together We Can Make a Difference

That’s why it is important to support Casa Herbalife programs in your community and around the world. HFF has started the year off strong with volunteer activities, Casa visits and fundraisers to make sure we will be able to give support to our programs in the future.

 From Around the World

The project aims to ensure children in the area grow up with a healthy and balanced diet.

HFF Germany sold merchandise at their Kick-Off on January 18th & 19th – with all funds going to their Casa’s ‘Gardening, Harvesting and Eating Together project’ which will reach 4,500 children. German members then donated €42,000 to Casa Deutsche Kinderhilfswerk e.V.

Herbalife members raised over $24,000 in 24 hours in mobile donations at the NAM Future President’s Team Retreat in Los Angeles. The funds raised in one day will go towards fully supporting a North American Casa Herbalife program and its children for a year.

Every February we celebrate Mark Hughes Day and the two great legacies our founder left behind: Herbalife and Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF). While, in honor of Mark Hughes (1956-2000) we carry on his legacy of giving back to those in need throughout the year, here are some ways Herbalife Family Foundation showed its commitment to Mark Hughes and gave back during the month of February.

Spotlight on Europe, the Middle East and Africa

SOS Children’s Villages in Athens, Greece provides abandoned, orphaned and destitute children with a permanent home and an SOS Mother, an adult given the responsibility of caring for the children. Children receive clothing, education, and medical and social support in addition to safe housing and good nutrition.

 From Around the World

The United Kingdom celebrated Mark Hughes Day on the 25th of February.  Thirty-five hundred pounds was raised for the London-based Casa Herbalife program, Action for Children, through a raffle, auction and cake bake sale. Earlier in the month two members of world-famous LA Galaxy team, Chris Klein and Alex Savva, were special guests at Action for Children’s Hackney Young Carers. Chris and Alex gave the children a football skills session and cooking lessons. In addition, the LA Galaxy donated US$20,000 to Hackney Young Carers.

In North America, the Los Angeles office celebrated Mark Hughes Day with employees donating to the Mark Hughes Monthly Giving Campaign. Employees who pledged $5 or more a month or donated personal hygiene items to the local Casa Herbalife program were entered into a raffle. At the end of the week the office held a party where HFF raffled off Herbalife prizes and celebrated Mark Hughes's legacy of giving.

In February, Indonesia organized a special visit from Herbalife Corporate Communications and 15 members to Rumah Autis, a Casa Herbalife program providing over 150 autistic children with specialized therapy and, of course, good nutrition. The children at Rumah Autis, who are taught music as a therapeutic activity, performed for the Herbalife guests during their visit.

South and Central America were very busy with eight Herbalife Extravaganza events held throughout the region. Countries participated in different fundraisers for HFF, such as a $20 Contribution Bond and Recognition Wall in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Bolivia had a silent auction and hosted a 4K race with Dr. Medina that raised money and awareness while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Many of the countries gave out buttons or, in some cases, bracelets that say “I made a donation, and you?”.

A few special Casa Herbalife program visits took place in Mexico. Herbalife Call Center employees visited the children of Proyecto de Atención integral a la Persona Inmuno Deprimida. Additionally, the Herbalife Mexico employee football team visited Hogar Nacidos para Triunfar. The football team Borregos del Tec de Puebla along with six President’s Team members visited the Una Nueva Esperanza Casa Herbalife program, bringing gifts and spending time playing with the children. During the visit, all of the volunteers painted their hands and stamped their handprint on the wall as sign of support. Una Nueva Esperanze has been part of the Casa Herbalife program since 2012 and serves children with cancer during their treatments.
