Our Founder

Mark Hughes (1956–2000) founded Herbalife in 1980, with the goal of changing the nutritional habits of the world, one person at a time. He shared his vision for success in a passionate and powerful way, resulting in what is now a multibillion-dollar company with dedicated Independent Herbalife Members in more than 90 countries around the world. Hughes created Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF), which is dedicated to improving children’s lives by helping organizations provide healthy nutrition to children at risk. HFF also lends support to relief efforts and responds to natural disasters around the world. Casa Herbalife Program, HFF’s flagship program named after the Brazilian orphanage Hughes and HFF built in 1998, was introduced in 2005 to support existing charitable organizations. The program helps to provide proper nutrition to thousands of children in over 50 countries around the globe. HFF continues to grow the foundation in support of Hughes’ vision. Speak with people who met Hughes and they will tell you how he motivated them to commit themselves to reach greater heights personally and professionally. He inspired people from all walks of life through his faith in people’s ability to change lives, starting with their own. Hughes believed that one person can make a difference and that difference is a healthier world.
