Herbalife Family Foundation Establishes Its 15th Casa Herbalife Program in Partnership with UK Charity NCH

LOS ANGELES, Aug 07, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) — The Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF) has established its 15th Casa Herbalife program worldwide at NCH, the Children's Charity, to support children who live in poverty and who have to care for a member of their family or household, through the Hackney Young Carers Project, in London. The program will provide weekly sessions where they can learn how to shop for and cook healthy meals.

The Casa Herbalife program was set up in 2005 to partner with existing charitable organizations around the world to ensure children are being fed nutritious meals.

NCH is the only UK-wide charity working in all four home nations in the UK via approximately 500 projects. They help more than 160,000 of the UK's most vulnerable children, young people and their families.

The Hackney Young Carers Project provides support, advice, recreational and educational opportunities for children aged 5-18 years old who care for a member of their family or household. The person they care for may have a physical illness, a physical or learning disability, mental health problem, abuse drugs or alcohol or be frail and elderly.

It is estimated that there are currently 175,000 young carers in the UK. NCH Hackney Young Carers supports 150 of these children.

Led by a qualified nutritionist, the weekly sessions will teach the children the importance of good nutrition and how to shop for and cook nutritious meals for them and their families. As well as being educational, it is also a chance for the youngsters to have a nutritious meal and to have fun with peers in similar situations.

A donation to NCH was made by Herbalife CEO Michael O. Johnson during his visit to London to take part in the company-sponsored Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon. The event was also a major fundraiser for the Casa Herbalife project with more than 240 staff and independent distributors taking part with a fundraising party held in central London during the weekend.

This is the third Casa Herbalife program established in the company's Europe, Middle East and African region, the other two are in Hungary and Greece.
