Help Support Disaster Relief Efforts in Italy

Early Monday morning, Italy's Abruzzo region was struck by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake.  The quake has killed more than 200 people, destroyed countless ancient structures and displaced thousands from their homes.  It is estimated that 70,000 people have been affected by this devastating earthquake - approximately 10 percent of those affected are children.

How you can help

HFF is proud to support the efforts of Save the Children in the earthquake zone in Italy.  The Italian Civil Protection Agency is providing search and rescue, temporary shelter and food and water rations for those affected.  These efforts are saving lives, but alone are not enough. It has been reported that over 400 schools in the area are closed until further notice, appropriate food for infants and toddlers is not readily available, and there is little medical care being provided for children and families.  With support, Save the Children will address these issues and provide temporary schooling, medical and child welfare services while the region recovers.

"Children are among the most vulnerable during any emergency. With this disaster, they were forced from their beds and out into the streets in the middle of the night, which is particularly frightening for small children," said Charles MacCormack, president and CEO of Save the Children. "Thousands of families are now homeless and need help to get their lives back together. We stand ready to assist."
