2010 HFF Humanitarian of the Year: Leslie Stanford

A Lesson in Giving…

The Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF) presented its fourth HFF Humanitarian Award during the Mark Hughes Bonus Awards ceremony at the Herbalife’s 30th Anniversary Leadership Summit in Orlando, Florida this past March.

Chairman’s Club member Leslie Stanford became the recipient of this prestigious award. It is presented to Herbalife Independent Distributors who exemplify the foundation’s mission and, through their outstanding involvement and dedication, have made a significant contribution to changing people’s lives through service in their community.

Philanthropy has been a part of Leslie’s life from a very young age. “It was the natural thing to do,” she says. Her mother, when making a family meal, would always make enough food for the family and some extra to share it with those in need. She would even bring food to people at the local hospital or just help out a neighbor with their chores. According to Leslie, you don’t have to be a Chairman’s Club member or have money to make a difference in someone’s life. She maintains that everyone has something to offer, whether it’s a donation or a helping hand. Leslie put it best when she said, “The only thing better than earning money is giving it away to help others.”

One of her greatest charitable contributions is her sponsorship of The PeaceJam Foundation, a nonprofit group that inspires children to get involved in their communities with the guidance of Nobel* Peace Laureates. Leslie has been
an advocate, fundraiser and has served on the PeaceJam board of directors; she was recently honored with the organization’s first Hero Award. Through her affiliation with PeaceJam, Leslie has helped facilitate meetings between thousands of teens and Nobel* Peace Laureates, including the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

It’s for her dedication to philanthropy and her tireless support of the Herbalife Family Foundation that she was selected, from a number of worthy nominees, as the recipient of the 2010 HFF Humanitarian Award. As with all the recipients of this award, HFF will make a one-time donation of US$10,000 to the charity of Leslie’s choice.

Congratulations, Leslie. Your hard work and generous spirit is an inspiration to millions of Distributors around the world.
